Four Women's Tennis Standouts Named CSC Academic All-District

NORFOLK, Va. -- The College Sports Communicators (CSC) Women's Tennis Academic All-District team was announced on Tuesday and four Monarchs were named to the team.
 
Alesya Yakubovich, Shahar Biran, Tatsiana Sasnouskaya and Alexandra Viktorovitch were among 1,200 student-athletes recognized by the national association. The 2022 Academic All-District® Women's Tennis Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes tennis honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early June. To qualify, a student-athlete had to have at least a 3.5 grade point average and participate in at least 50% of the possible matches.


Viktorovitch went 19-8 in singles and 15-11 in doubles in the 2022-23 season. She ran off 13 straight wins from March 5 through April 30 only losing one set in those matches. Was 9-0 against Sun Belt opponents and 15-5 in dual match play. Viktorovitch had wins in non-conference play against West Virginia, LSU, Princeton, Wake Forest twice and Kansas.
 
In doubles, she teamed mostly with Allison Isaacs as that duo finished 13-11 on the season mainly at line two. That duo made a run to the ITA Regional semifinals recording wins over James Madison, Va. Tech, Liberty and VCU. She is from Jonkoping, Sweden with a 3.95 GPA in business management.
 
Biran went 19-5 in singles and 13-13 in doubles during the 2022-23 season. She finished the year with a 10-match winning streak where she didn't lose a set, including taking a set off 28th-ranked Carson Tanguilig of North Carolina in second round NCAA Tournament match before match was clinched. Biran went 7-0 in Sun Belt action and had non-conference wins over LSU, Princeton, Georgia, Delaware, W&M.
 
In doubles, teamed mostly with Alesya Yakubovich for a 13-13 record. They ran off a five-match winning streak from Feb. 19 through March 17, which included wins over Florida State, Princeton, Kansas, Louisiana and Marshall. She is from Hod HaSharon, Israel with a 3.8 GPA in economics.
 
Sasnouskaya has been ranked among the top 35 nationally all season and currently sports a 21-5 singles mark and a 19-7 doubles ledger. She made her presence known right out of the gate knocking off the third-ranked player in the country from Princeton Daria Frayman 6-2, 6-2 in a tournament in Charlottesville. Sasnouskaya won seven of her first eight singles matches this year and made a run to the quarterfinals in the ITA Atlantic Regional. During the spring, she was named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year and is currently on a ten-match winning streak.
 
In doubles, she and Sofia Johnson have been ranked in the top 40 nationally all season and are currently 40th heading into the NCAA Doubles Championship in two weeks. The duo sports a 19-6 overall record, going 14-2 in dual matches this year. They've won their last nine matches and have wins over the second-ranked duo in the country from Oklahoma, the 12th-ranked duo from Wake Forest and the 31st-ranked duo from South Carolina. That duo was named First Team All-Sun Belt Conference. Sasnouskaya is from Minsk, Belarus with a 3.79 GPA in cybersecurity.
 
Yakubovich was 18-10 on the year in singles and 13-13 in doubles for 2022-23. She opened the season winning seven of her first nine singles matches, which included a run to the quarterfinals at the ITA Atlantic Regionals. Yakubovich recorded a four-match winning streak that included wins over South Alabama, Southern Miss, Arkansas State and ULM.
 
In doubles, she and Viktorovitch finished with a 13-13 record. The duo ran off a five-match winning streak from Feb. 19 through March 17, which included wins over Florida State, Princeton, Kansas, Louisiana and Marshall. Yakubovich is from Minsk, Belarus and graduated with a 3.69 GPA in business administration. Currently with a 3.5 GPA going for her masters in business administration.
