NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion Lacrosse team and Head Coach Theresa Walton announced its 2024 schedule on Wednesday.
"Our team is so excited for our 2024 spring slate. All of our focus leading up to this spring has been geared toward the strong out of conference competition to prepare us for conference play. We kick off our season on February 10, playing against a talented team," said head coach Theresa Walton.
The Monarchs will open with Elon on Saturday, Feb. 10 at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex.
"We are chomping at the bit for the challenge and opportunity to build off a great win from last year's season opener, this time at home. Competing in the third best conference in the country for women's lacrosse within the AAC, this team knows how important it is to be playing our best lacrosse by March 17 for our conference home opener with Cincinnati. One of the great things about lacrosse in Virginia are the in-state rivalries that have been formed over time," said Walton.
ODU will then hit the road to play a pair of in-state rivals on Wednesday, Feb 14 at Richmond and William & Mary on Saturday, Feb. 17.
Old Dominion will make it a third straight in-state rival as they host VCU on Wednesday, Feb 21.
The Monarchs will then be back on the road for two games starting with Longwood on Wednesday, Feb 28 and then travel to Lehigh for a matchup on Saturday, March 2.
ODU will host George Washington on Tuesday, March 5 before finishing its road non-conference schedule on Sunday, March 10 at Rider.
Old Dominion will be at home on Wednesday, March 13 and opens its American Athletic Conference schedule at home on Sunday, March 17 when they host Cincinnati.
The Monarchs continue conference play when they travel to Florida on Saturday, March 23.
AAC play continues on the road at Temple on Saturday, March 30.
ODU will return home to host Vanderbilt on Saturday, April 6.
The Monarchs will be back on the road to take on its fifth of six in-state rivals when they play Virginia Tech on Wednesday, April 10 and will then travel to East Carolina on Saturday, April 20.
The Monarchs wrap up their season and conference slate against James Madison on Saturday, April 27.
The American Athletic Conference Tournament will be held Thursday, May 2 and Saturday May 4.
"As Monarchs, we want to represent Old Dominion University as one of the dominant lacrosse programs in this great state. We are seeing some programs that this squad hasn't met on the field yet, especially heading up north to where a lot of our student-athletes were born and raised. With our fan base spread across the northeast, it will be exciting for away games to feel like home games. Spring 2024 can't come soon enough for this squad. We can't wait to represent our families, alumni, recruits, and fans in the stands this upcoming season!"
A reminder to all fans there are no dogs allowed inside the L.R. Hill Sports Complex.
