SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Day two at the 2023 ITA Fall Nationals saw Old Dominion split its pair of matches, but one duo is still alive in the championship bracket.

Codie van Schalkwyk and Connor van Schalkwyk knocked out the duo of Peter Alam and Justas Trainauskas from the University of the Pacific 7-6 (7-3), 6-1 in the round of 16. The van Schalkwyks took the tiebreaker in the first set and then raced out to a 5-0 lead in the second before Pacific got on the board.

Connor served an ace on match point to lock up the advancement to the quarters. On Friday, they'll face Edward Winter and Maxi Homberg of Pepperdine for the right to make the semifinals. This marks the second time an ODU duo has advanced to at least the quarterfinals in the ITA Fall Nationals as Aziz Kijametovic and Francois Musitelli made the semifinals in 2018.

"It was a great day today. Codie and Connor beat a really tough Pacific team and are through to the quarterfinals," said ODU Associate Head Coach Othmane Lalami. "They again came up with great energy, confidence and that translated to some clutch points won and great decision making. Tomorrow will be another exciting day.

Jakob Cadonau and Cosme Rolland De Ravel finished their run in the tournament falling to the sixth-ranked duo in the country in Hunter Heck and Karlis Ozolins of Illinois 6-4, 6-2.

"Cosme and Jakob had a tough one today but a great fall season winning regionals," said Lalami. "I know they'll bounce back, work hard and be ready for the spring season."
