NEW YORK – The Old Dominion Field Hockey team had five players named to the BIG EAST All-Conference first and second teams. Suus Broers was named BIG EAST Co-Freshman of the Year. Marlon de Bruijne, Frederique Zandbergen and Nicole Fredericks were named first team All-Conference. Broers and Sacha de Gier were named to the All-Conference second team. 
 
de Bruijne led the BIG EAST with 40 points, 17 goals, points per game (2.35), goals per game (1) and game-winning goals (6). The four-time BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week joins the First Team All-BIG EAST for the fourth time in four years for the Monarchs. 
 
Fredricks was named First Team All-BIG EAST for the first time in her career. The captain of the Monarchs scored three goals this season and has led ODU in defense making them a top 10 defense in the country. This is her third all-conference honor as she earned second-team accolades as a freshman and sophomore. 
 
Zandbergen was named First Team All-BIG EAST with 17 points, 13 assists and two goals. Her 13 assists leads the BIG EAST and she led the conference with .76 assists per game which ranks fourth nationally. Zandbergen was named to the BIG EAST All Conference Second Team. 
 
Broers was named BIG EAST Co-Freshman of the Year and Second Team All-BIG EAST. Broers has made 46 saves and her 1.18 goals against average and five shutouts ranks second in the conference.  
 
de Gier was named Second Team All-BIG EAST with 27 points, 11 goals and five assists. She ranks third in the conference in goals and goals per game (.65) and is fourth in points and points per game (1.59), 
 
ODU will open BIG EAST Tournament play in the semifinals on Friday, Nov. 3 at 4 p.m. when they played number three seeded and host Temple at Howarth Field.
