NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion women's soccer team starts a busy stretch of matches on Thursday night when they visit the Marshall Thundering Herd for a 6 p.m. kick in Huntington, West Virginia.

ODU (8-1-2, 3-1-0) enters following a four-goal second half explosion on Senior Day to knock off Sun Belt West Division Co-Leader Southern Miss 4-0. Ece Turkoglu had a pair of goals, while Rhea Kijowski and Megan Watts added penalty kick goals for the Monarchs.

Marshall (6-4-1, 1-3) returns home after a 2-1 win at Troy on September 30 as Cassidy Bell scored just before halftime and Bailey Fisher tallied the game winner just into the start of the second half. For Fisher, that was her league leading fourth game winning goal of the season.

The Thundering Herd lead the all-time series 5-3-1, while the Monarchs have won the last three meetings. ODU defeated Marshall 2-1 on the final night of the regular season last year to lock a spot in the top six of the standings.  The last meeting at Marshall was March 5, 2021 with the Monarchs winning 3-0.

ABOUT ODU
Through 11 matches, a total of 10 Monarchs have tallied goals thus far. Turkoglu leads with four goals and one assist for nine points, while Watts and Thalia Morisi have three goals each for six points. Kijowski and Anna Torslov have two goals and one assist each for five points.

Watts' penalty kick goal against Southern Miss gave her 18 for her career and puts her tied for ninth on the all-time ODU goals scored list.

Emily Bredek leads the Sun Belt in shutouts and is sixth nationally with seven, while she also leads the league and fourth nationally in goals against average with .279. Her seven shutouts puts Bredek tied for third on the single season list with Tonya Dedmond from 1999.

Old Dominion returned to the United Soccer Coaches Southeast Regional Top 10 on Tuesday at tenth.
