ODU Field Hockey Finishes Regular Season At UConn On Friday

NORFOLK, Va. –  The Old Dominion Field Hockey team will wrap up the regular season on Friday, Oct. 27 at UConn starting at 2 p.m. 
 
The game will be streamed on Flosports.
 
The Monarchs are riding a nine-game win streak with an 8-0 win over Quinnipiac on Friday, Oct. 20 and a 3-0 win over JMU on Sunday, Oct. 22. Marlon de Bruijne scored three goals over the weekend and was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week for the fourth time this season and Suus Broers was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week for the third time this season. Leading the Monarchs offensively is de Bruijne with 37 points and 16 goals. She also leads the BIG EAST in points and goals. Sacha de Gier trails with 27 points and 11 goals.

Frederique Zandbergen leads the BIG EAST and team with 13 assists. Suus Broers has five shutouts in goal and three combined shutouts which is second in the BIG EAST and has a goal against average of 1.12.
 
UConn is coming off an 0-2 weekend with a 3-0 loss to #6 Liberty on Friday and a 2-0 loss to #3 Duke on Sunday. Julia Bresser leads the team with 17 points and eight goals. Sol Simone leads the team with seven assists. Last season the Huskies and Monarchs met in Norfolk with UConn winning the meeting 2-1 in double overtime. ODU leads the all-time series 24-23 and is looking to snap a 13-match losing streak to the Huskies. 
 
The Monarchs have secured the #2 seed at the BIG EAST Tournament on Nov. 3 and 5 at Temple.
