NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion Field Hockey team takes on Quinnipiac on Friday, Oct. 20 at 2 p.m. at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex and will travel to James Madison on Sunday, Oct. 22 starting at 1 p.m. The game against Quinnipiac is the final home game of the season for the Monarchs, the team will also honor eight seniors for Senior Day. The game against JMU is apart of the Townebank Royal Rivalry Series that started last season. 
 
This marks the second year of the TowneBank Royal Rivalry series between ODU and JMU, which amplifies school pride between the two universities and rekindles a decade old rivalry steeped in tradition across all shared sports programs. 
 
TowneBank is a longstanding supporter of college athletics, and they are excited to cheer along the healthy competition between Old Dominion University and James Madison University. TowneBank is fortunate to have a strong alumni base on both sides of the rivalry and looks forward to seeing who will hoist the crown for the 2023-2024 academic year.

Old Dominion is coming off a 2-0 weekend, extending its winning streak to seven games. On Friday ODU defeated Villanova 6-5 and on Sunday defeated Richmond 4-0. Marlon de Bruijne was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week after scoring three goals and adding two assists. Leading the Monarchs offensively is de Bruijne with 30 points and 13 goals. Frederique Zandbergen leads the team with eight assists. Suus Broers earned her sixth shutout with the win over Richmond. Broers has made 38 saves and has a goals against average of 1.29.
 
Quinnipiac is coming off a 1-1 weekend losing to #7 Liberty on Friday, 2-1 and defeating Hofstra 3-2 in overtime on Sunday. Leading the Bobcats offensively is Stella Tegtmeier with 17 points and five assists. Tegtmeier is tied with Emilia Massarelli for the team lead in goals with six. The Monarchs and Bobcats met last season which saw an ODU victory 6-1 in Hamden. Old Dominion leads the all-time series 8-1.
 
James Madison is coming off an 0-1 weekend with a 3-2 loss to #7 Liberty. Leading the Dukes offensively is Tori Carawan with 15 points and six goals. Mia Julian leads the team with seven assists. ODU and JMU played last season in Norfolk and the Monarchs took the win 6-1. Old Dominion leads the all-time series 56-13.
