NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion volleyball has a road test at Virginia this Tuesday as the Monarchs face the Cavaliers in a 6 p.m. match at Memorial Gymnasium.

About ODU
The Monarchs (4-2) were in Annapolis, Maryland this past weekend for Navy's Kristen Dickmann Invitational. ODU fell 3-0 to Maryland and 3-1 to the host Midshipmen, but bested Utah Valley in five sets.
Myah Conway and Bryanna Jones pace the ODU attack with 75 and 72 kills, respectively. Setter Teresa Atilano has 206 assists and has served a team-high 10 aces, though Alice Munari and Kira Smith are right behind her with nine aces each. Kate Kilpatrick leads the back row with 70 digs, followed by Atilano with 47. Bailey Burgess has recorded 21 blocks to lead the Monarchs at the net. LeeAnne Lowery is second in blocking with 16, Conway has 15 and Atilano owns 13. ODU currently ranks third in the Sun Belt in aces per set (1.91) and is fourth in team service aces (44).
The team's 4-2 record marks its best start in program history. ODU went 3-3 to start its inaugural season in the spring of 2021 and was 2-4 to begin its 2021 and 2022 seasons.
About Virginia
The Cavaliers (3-1) return to Charlottesville after a successful trip to New York City that saw them earn a pair of wins in the Big Apple Tournament. After UVA defeated Quinnipiac 3-1 on Friday, the Cavs rallied for a 3-2 comeback victory over Columbia on Saturday, topping the Lions 15-5 in the decisive set.
Abby Tadder has scored 54 kills and Veresia Yon is at 40 kills heading into Tuesday's match. Ashley Le is the team's primary setter with 118 assists and is tied for the team lead in service aces with Kate Johnson at six apiece. Defensively, Le and Milan Gomillion have combined for 91 digs, Veresia Yon is the top blocker with 25, and Tadder followed Yon with 13 blocks.
Virginia was picked to finish 13th in the ACC Preseason Coaches' Poll. Head coach Shannon Wells is in her third season leading the program.
Tuesday's match marks just the second-ever meeting with the Cavaliers. Virginia hosted ODU on Feb. 26, 2021, a match that went to the Cavs in straight sets 25-14, 25-19, and 25-22. Alumni Alessia Sgherza led the Monarchs with eight kills and Atilano finished with 18 assists, three digs and two aces.

ODU will head to the nation's capital this Friday and Saturday for the DC Showdown, co-hosted by Georgetown and George Washington. The first day of the tournament will see the Monarchs play the Hoyas at 11 a.m. and the Revolutionaries at 6 p.m. Old Dominion then wraps up the trip with a noon tilt against North Alabama on Saturday.
