NORFOLK, Va. – After splitting its first Sun Belt series of the season at Marshall last week, the Old Dominion volleyball team is back on its home court this week as the Monarchs host Georgia Southern. Friday's match is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. first serve and the teams will then meet again on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Friday's match will be streamed on ESPN+ and live stats will be available for both matches. Friday also marks the Monarchs' Gold Game in support of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Fans who bring an unopened toy to donate will receive free admission.

Series History
ODU and Georgia Southern are meeting for the first time this weekend. The Monarchs were scheduled to travel to Statesboro, Georgia on Sept. 30-Oct. 1 last season, but the series was canceled due to Hurricane Ian.

About ODU
The Monarchs (9-7, 1-1 Sun Belt) opened conference play at Marshall last week. ODU defeated the Herd 3-1 on Thursday, but fell in straight sets on Friday.

Teresa Atilano, named the Sun Belt Setter of the Week on Tuesday, is the national leader in assists with 596 this season and also ranks eighth with 30 service aces. She needs 50 more assists to reach 3,000 for her career. Myah Conway ranks fifth in the country with 237 kills and sixth in points at 268, while Bailey Burgess' 65 blocks place her 23rd. Following Conway in kills are Alice Munari (126) and Bryanna Jones (119), and Kate Kilpatrick owns the team high in digs with 189.

As of Sept. 25, ODU is second in the country with 153 blocks. The Monarchs are also seventh in both team assists (719) and team kills (771) and rank 23rd in team service aces (103).

About Georgia Southern
The Eagles (11-2, 1-1) pushed their winning streak to six matches with a 3-0 victory over Arkansas State last Friday in Statesboro, but came up short against the Red Wolves 3-1 on Saturday.

Reagan Barth and Jillian Gray are the top two attackers for GS, combining for 216 kills and 254.5 points. Kristen Barrett and Callaway Cason split time in the setter role with 258 and 200 assists, respectively. The Eagles also several options while serving: Paige Powers leads the team with 14 aces, Barth is right behind her with 13, Barrett has served 12 aces and Ashlyn Lovett owns 10. On defense, Lovett enters the series with 201 digs and Allie Hair has recorded a team-high 46 blocks.

GS currently ranks 14th in the nation in hitting percentage (.283), 16th in opponent hitting percentage (.149) and 21st in blocks per set (2.68).

The Eagles were picked to finish fourth in the Sun Belt East Division, edging the Monarchs by one point with 55. Head coach Chad Willis is in his fifth season with the program.
