NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion men's soccer team returns to Sun Belt Conference action on Sunday night when they host Kentucky at 6 p.m. at the ODU Soccer Complex. It will be Pack The Park night as attendance will be free for everyone.
 
Old Dominion (2-0-5, 0-0-1) enters the contest off a 1-1 draw with VCU on Tuesday night. The Rams scored first but Jonas Schmalbach found William Arnesen with a touch pass who then put it past the diving goalie with just under nine minutes left to even the match.
 
Kentucky (3-4-0, 0-1-0) has dropped its last two matches and enter off a 3-0 loss at Ohio State on Tuesday. The Wildcats have been ranked for most of the season peaking at #2 in the polls and have lost four of their last five.
 
The Wildcats lead the series 8-1-2 and scored a 2-0 win on Oct. 28, 2022 in Lexington, Kentucky last season. ODU's win in this series came in 2017 in Norfolk by a 2-0 score.
 
ABOUT ODU
Arnesen, Schmalbach, Karan Mandair and Key White share the lead in goals scored for ODU with two. Nicholas Alves, Michael Eberle and Pierce Gallaway have added a goal apiece. Nathan Lam leads the team in assists with three, while Arnesen leads in points scored with six.
 
In the net, Michael Statham has a pair of clean sheets this year and has a .765 save percentage in seven matches.
 
The tie with VCU marks the longest unbeaten streak to start a season since 2003 when they won their first 14 matches.
 
With another tie, the Monarchs will tie the Sun Belt Conference single season record for most ties with six. Three teams share that mark, including the 1990 Old Dominion Monarchs who finished 8-6-6.
 
ABOUT KENTUCKY
Logan Dorsey leads the Wildcats in scoring with three goals, while Isaiah Chisholm and Aboubacar Camara have two each. Max Miller is the leader in assists with four, while five others have one apiece.
In the net, Casper Mols has two clean sheets and a 1.57 goals against average in seven matches.
 
Kentucky was preseason ranked first in the Sun Belt with Casper Grening named Offensive Preseason Player of the Year and Mols taking the Defensive Preseason Player of the Year honors.
