NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion men's soccer team starts a five-match road swing on Monday night as they head to Baltimore and face off with the University of Maryland Baltimore County at 7:30 p.m.
 
ODU (0-0-1) scored twice in the second half on Thursday night to salvage a 2-2 draw with George Washington, while UMBC (1-0-0) held on for a 4-3 win at George Mason.
 
Karan Mandair and Michael Eberle tallied goals for ODU in the season opener. Mandair came off a penalty kick four minutes into the second half, while Eberle's marker came off a feed from Natham Lam midway through the half.
 
This will be the fourth all-time matchup between the Monarchs and the Retrievers as ODU holds a 1-0-2 advantage. The last meeting was a scoreless tie on Nov. 15, 2012.
 
ABOUT ODU
After the draw on Thursday, ODU hits the road for five straight matches before hosting VCU on September 19. The road tour hits Baltimore, then Fairfax on September 4 for a matchup with George Mason, Radford for a September 8 encounter, William & Mary on September 12 and then the Sun Belt Conference opener at Georgia State on September 16.
 
Michael Statham made three saves in the home opener as ODU held a 16-8 advantage in shots and 7-3 in corner kicks.
 
ABOUT UMBC
The Retrievers were paced by Taylor Calheira who recorded a hat-trick in the season opener at George Mason. Alex Wroblewski tallied the final goal for UMBC who outshot George Mason 14-9 in the contest.
 
Jago Lott had two assists on the night, while William Forby and Spencer Hanks each had one.
