Men's Golf Earns 2022-23 GCAA Outstanding Team Academic Award

NORMAN, Okla. – After Jakob Chicoyne, Jacob Gunther and Philip Minnehan were named 2022-23 All-America Scholars last Wednesday, Old Dominion men's golf earned another accolade as the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced the Monarchs were among its recipients of the 2022-23 Outstanding Team Academic Award.

ODU was one of 266 programs across six divisions to earn the Award. As a team, the Monarchs combined for a 3.18 grade point average for the 2022-23 academic year. To be eligible, a team must have earned at least a 3.0 GPA based on a 4.0 scale.

This past year saw the team compete in 10 tournaments, with ODU turning in six Top-10 finishes and one Top-5 finish. The Monarchs' best outing was at the Cutter Creek Invitational, where the team came in third out of 10 teams with a combined 19-over par 883. ODU also tied for sixth at the VCU Shootout, placed eighth at the Advance Golf Partners Collegiate, tied for eighth at the Georgia State Invitational, and finished ninth at the Tunica National Intercollegiate.
