Everything You Need to Know for Homecoming Against Texas A&M University-Commerce

NORFOLK, Va. – With the 2023 football season about a month away and the Old Dominion Football home opener 32 days away, we wanted to prepare Monarch Nation for all of the gameday activities they can expect to see in and around Kornblau Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium this season.
 
Game Info
The Homecoming contest against Texas A&M University-Commerce will feature a new helmet design. The throwback race track logo. The logo was used by Old Dominion logo from 1975-80 and it will be the first time it is utilized by the football team. The team will wear Hudson Blue uniforms and that is the fan color as well.
 
The game is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 23 with a 3:30 p.m. kickoff. The start time is subject to change. This will be the first meeting between the two programs.
 
There will be a pregame flyover provided by the Vintage Aircraft Aviation Museum.

The Schellhammer Urological Research Foundation (SURF) will promote the Blue Out to Beat Prostate Cancer, presented by Sentara and Urology of Virginia, on Saturday September 23. The event aims to bring awareness about prostate cancer and remind everyone that early detection saves lives. One in eight American men will get some form of prostate cancer; the earlier it's identified, the better the rates of survival. The Blue Out will also feature a "Survivor Moment," honoring survivors and their caregivers. SURF is a charitable foundation that supports today's care and tomorrow's cure through direct patient support, community education and outreach, research and international medical missions. There will be a t-shirt giveaway to the first 5,000 fans in the stadium sponsored by SURF.
 
Kaufman Mall
The exciting pregame atmosphere returns at Kaufman Mall beginning four hours prior to kickoff. The band Buckshot, a local favorite, will take the stage beginning at 11:30 a.m. Kaufman Mall staples, the big screen TV and Beer Garden return for the 2023 season.
 
Homecoming Activities
The Old Dominion Alumni Association is running a ticket and tailgate package that is available on a first come, first serve basis. Click here for more information.
 
The Old Dominion Sports Hall of Fame will induct five new members. Lisa Bernardini (Lacrosse/Women's Soccer), Ronnie Cameron (Football), Samantha Morrell (Women's Golf), Eric Onesi (Men's Golf) and Katie Watson (Women's Soccer) will receive their honors at a breakfast Saturday morning. The Homecoming parade will begin at 11 a.m. Click here for more information for the parade, which will include the 2023 ODU Sports Hall of Fame inductees.
 
There are a plethora of events leading up to Saturday's game, including the Monarchs Give Back event at the Mitchum Basketball Practice Center from 3-4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 22. This second annual event is a campus-wide food collection to benefit Hampton Roads children and the ODU Campus Pantry. This year, ODU's goal is to collect 20,000 non-perishable items. Tickets

The Deck returns for its second year and has expanded to being an add-on to an individual ticket. Single-game and season tickets for The Deck are on sale. The Deck is a premium hospitality area on the west concourse of S.B. Ballard Stadium. It offers a great atmosphere, top-notch amenities and the sights and sounds of gameday from the open-air premium hospitality area with complimentary catering!
