NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion University Football linebacker Jason Henderson was named a preseason first-team All-American by Hero Sports, the publication announced on Friday.
In 2022, Henderson led the country with 186 tackles and featured 11 games with double-digit tackles, including the only player in the country with multiple 20+ tackle games. He notched a school record 22 stops against Georgia Southern and had 21 tackles against Arkansas State.
Henderson earned five All-America honors last season, including four second-team honors. He earned first-team All-Sun Belt Conference accolades and was named the Touchdown Club of Richmond Linebacker of the Year.
A native of Dingmans Ferry, Pennsylvania, Henderson broke the ODU and Sun Belt single-season records for tackles.
Henderson and the Monarchs open the 2023 season on Saturday, Sept. 2 at Virginia Tech at 8 p.m. on the ACC Network.
