NORFOLK, Va. – The last Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Rankings for the 2022-23 season were released on Wednesday with the Old Dominion men's team earning a few marks.
As a team overall, the Monarchs finished the year ranked 65th ending with a record of 18-10 and winning their first Sun Belt Conference championship and earning a bid to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2018.
The Monarchs finished third out of teams in the Atlantic Region and ahead of schools like Virginia Tech, Temple and Penn State. ODU defeated three teams that ended the year nationally-ranked as well as scored three nationally-ranked wins during the season.
The doubles duo of Younes Lalami and Brandon Perez finished ranked 90th as the tandem ended the year with a 16-9 record. They were recognized as first-team All-Sun Belt Conference prior to the conference tournament.
A separate poll for mid-major schools was compiled by the ITA where Old Dominion finished the year 24th.
Also earning Sun Belt Conference honors this year were Francois Le Tallec (first team singles), Cosme Rolland De Ravel (second team singles) and Jakob Cadonau (Newcomer of the Year).
