IRVING, Texas – Katie McGrain of the Old Dominion women's lacrosse team was named to the American Athletic Conference second team, the conference announced on Wednesday. 
 
McGrain is a team captain and started every game for ODU in defense this season. The senior from Forest Hill, Maryland caused 23 turnovers, picked up 43 ground balls, collected 2 draw controls and scored one goal. In conference play her totals included 16 ground balls and eight caused turnovers. 
 
McGrain has played in 60 games making 59 starts, picking up 83 ground balls, 45 caused turnovers, 15 draw controls and eight goals in her career
 
"We're so happy and proud of Katie for getting the recognition she deserves in the American Athletic Conference. Katie played such an instrumental role to our defensive unit and the success they had all season long and it showed through what she was able to accomplish stat wise," said head coach Theresa Walton. "This is such a strong conference for lacrosse programs, it's been awesome to see what everyone has been capable of throughout season and we look forward to continue to add ODU players to the All AAC team honors each year!"
 
McGrain plans on returning to Old Dominion for her fifth season where she will lead the defense again.
