Men's Tennis Tames Coastal Carolina 6-1

NORFOLK, Va. – The 68^th-ranked Old Dominion men's tennis team started their final home stretch of the 2023 season with a 6-1 Sun Belt Conference victory over Coastal Carolina on Sunday inside the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
 
DOUBLES
At line two, Younes Lalami and Codie van Schalkwyk got ODU (14-9, 6-1) on the board with a 6-1 win over Carlos Berna Ruiz and Maj Tomac. The team point was clinched by Cosme Rolland De Ravel and Francois Le Tallec with a 6-3 win at line three over Gui Toresan and Jesus Garcia Gil.
For Rolland De Ravel and Le Tallec, that puts their spring record to a team best 12-3.
 
SINGLES
Old Dominion got on the board quickly in singles as Rolland De Ravel finished off a 6-1, 6-2 win over Tomac for a 2-0 Monarchs lead. Luca Maldoner followed up with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Garcia Gil to put ODU up 3-0.
Van Schalkwyk pulled the clincher in line three taking a 6-1, 7-5 win over Lucas Wayneburg for a 4-0 ODU advantage.
Following a Coastal Carolina (10-10, 1-6) win at line one, the final two matches ended simultaneously. Nicola Vidal scored a 7-5, 6-4 win over Steve Mundt at line six, while Jakob Cadonau finished the match with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Guilherme Toresan at line four.
Rolland De Ravel's win gives him 13 this spring to lead the team heading into the final weekend of the regular season. Cadonau is right behind with 12, while van Schalkwyk and Le Tallec have 11.
