CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Old Dominion women's golf wrapped up the final day of the 2023 Chattanooga Classic, its final tournament of the regular season, on Tuesday. The three-day Classic was played on the par-72, 6,209-yard course at Council Fire Golf Club.

The Monarchs combined for an opening round of 310 on Sunday, then followed with a 305 on Monday. ODU rounded out the Classic with a round of 303 on Monday to place 15th with a 54-hole total of 918 (+54). The team was without Federica Torre, who was forced to withdraw, and it was too late for the Monarchs to make a substitution.

"We really missed having Federica in the lineup. We hope she recovers in time to compete in the conference championship. In the meantime, we need to learn how to stop beating ourselves, making better decisions, and execute around the greens. If we can do that, we will have an opportunity to shoot under par," said head coach Mallory Kane.

SMU was atop the team leaderboard with a 14-under par 850. Xavier took second place with six-over 870 and Augusta was third with a nine-over 873. Xavier's Emma McMyler earned individual medalist honors with a nine-under total of 207. SMU's Michelle Zhang was two strokes behind McMyler with a final tally of 209 and Notre Dame's Lauren Beaudreau rounded out the top three individuals with a 211.

Lucia Gonzalez led the Monarchs and tied for 20th with a four-over par 220. A freshman from Monterrey, Mexico, she carded a pair of 75s in the first and third rounds. Her best effort came on Day Two when she made five birdies, including four on the back nine, for a two-under 70.

Next for ODU was Leah Onosato, who tied for 36th with a three-day total of 224 (+8). Klara Wildhaber tied for 45th at 227 (+11), Minami Kudo shot a 233 (+17) to tie for 66th, and Pilar Muguriza rounded out the Monarch lineup with a 247 (+31) to tie for 91st.

Gonzalez tied for third in par-4 scoring with an average of 3.88 while Onosato was second in par-5 scoring with a 4.73. Both made a team-high 11 birdies and Kudo led the Monarchs with 38 putts for par.

ODU has a couple of weeks to prepare for the Sun Belt Championship, which will be held at the LPGA International course in Daytona Beach, Florida on April 16-18.
