TUNICA, Miss. – Jakob Chicoyne was the top finisher for the Old Dominion men's golf team, tying for 19th with a three-over 219 after the final round of the 2023 Tunica National Intercollegiate on Tuesday.
A junior from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Chicoyne started off the two-day tournament with a six-over 78 and a two-under 70 for his first two trips around the course. He then capped off the Intercollegiate with a one-under 71 on Tuesday.
Kaijun Ma was next for ODU, tying for 30th with a six-over 222. Aleksander Bjorge tied for 44th with a 54-hole total of 228. Jacob Gunther's total of 231 tied him for 54th, and Jakob Henriksson rounded out the Monarch lineup with a 233 to place 61st.
Chicoyne tallied 10 birdies over the two days and Ma converted a team-high 39 putts for par.
As a team, the Monarchs combined for a 31-over 895 to finish ninth. Arkansas State and UT Arlington were co-champions after posting one-under 863s, and North Alabama came in third with an even 864. Missouri State's Max Kreikemeier was the individual medalist with an 11-under 205, and North Alabama's Andre Jacobs was the runner-up at eight-under 208.
Up next for ODU is the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Men's Golf Championship, to be played at the Annandale Golf Club in Madison, Mississippi on April 24-27.
