Men's Tennis Falls To SMU 4-1

DALLAS – The 54th-ranked Old Dominion men's tennis team dropped a 4-1 decision on Tuesday to SMU in its second match of a Spring Break Texas swing.
 
Doubles saw ODU drop decisions at the one and three spots as the Mustangs won the team point. Jakob Cadonau and Luca Maldoner were up 6-5 at line two when the point was clinched.
 
Cadonau gave ODU the singles point with a 6-3, 6-3 win at line five. SMU responded with wins at three, four and six to lock up the match. Francois Le Tallec forced a third set at line two winning five straight games to take the second set 7-5 after falling 6-0 in the first set. He was up 2-1 in the third when the match was clinched.
 
"SMU took it to us in doubles. Our emotional level in doubles is still too inconsistent," said ODU Head Coach Dominik Mueller. "I was happy with how we started singles and we hung around to turn the match around, but in the end SMU was the better team today."
 
ODU (8-6) finishes the Texas swing on Thursday afternoon facing 42nd-ranked UTSA in San Antonio.
