PENSACOLA, Fla. – Amari Young was named to the Sun Belt Women's Basketball All-Tournament Team, announced by the conference office following the Championship final on Monday afternoon at the Pensacola Bay Center.
The senior forward from North Augusta, South Carolina led Old Dominion with 48 points (16.0 ppg) and 23 rebounds (7.7 rpg) through the Monarchs' three tournament games against No. 12 seed Georgia State, No. 4 seed Troy, and No. 1 seed and tournament champion James Madison. Young shot 19-for-45 (.422) from the field and 10-for-19 (.526) at the free-throw line while adding four assists, two blocks and six steals to her totals.
In ODU's second round win over the Panthers, she posted an 11-point, 10-rebound double-double with two assists and four steals. In the quarterfinal win over the Trojans, she scored a season-high 29 points with nine boards, two assists, two blocks and one steal. Young then capped off her week with eight points, four rebounds and a steal in the team's semifinal loss to the Dukes.
JMU's Kiki Jefferson was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player and was joined by teammate Peyton McDaniel on the All-Tournament Team. Da'Nasia Hood and Taelour Pruitt represented runner-up Texas State, and Southern Miss' Domonique Davis was the other All-Tournament Team honoree.
