Milton-Jones Named One of the 100 Most Influential People in Women’s College Basketball

NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion women's basketball head coach DeLisha Milton-Jones has been named one of the 100 Most Influential People in Women's College Basketball, as chosen by Silver Waves Media.
 
According to the Silver Waves Media website, those included in the list are considered to be the most impactful people in the college basketball space and include coaches, grassroots directors, event operators, executives and more who continue to make a difference at the highest level. The list of 100 was chosen by the team at Silver Waves Media along with a committee of professionals.
 
In addition to Coach Milton-Jones, the list includes the likes of fellow NCAA Division I coaches Dawn Staley (South Carolina), Geno Auriemma (UConn), Niele Ivey (Notre Dame), Kara Lawson (Duke), Kellie Harper (Tennessee), Kim Mulkey (LSU), Brenda Frese (Maryland), Bill Fennelly (Iowa State), Cori Close (UCLA), Kim Barnes Arico (Michigan), Kevin McGuff (Ohio State) and Lindsay Gottlieb (USC).
 
The honorees also include ESPN's Andraya Carter, Debbie Antonelli and Doris Burke.

A 2022 Women's Basketball Hall of Fame inductee and two-time Olympic gold medalist, Milton-Jones just finished her third season at ODU and led the Monarchs to an appearance in the Sun Belt Championship Semifinals, where the team lost to eventual champion James Madison. The Monarchs finished 22-12 overall with a 12-6 mark in conference play, to include a league-best 13-2 record at home. It was the third straight winning season under Milton-Jones and the second year in a row ODU has had 20-plus wins. Under Milton-Jones' guidance, the Monarchs landed on CollegeInsider.com's Top 25 Mid Major Poll four times.
 
The 2022-23 season also saw Milton-Jones coach senior forward Amari Young to Sun Belt All-Conference Second Team and All-Tournament Team honors as the North Augusta, South Carolina native eclipsed 1,000 career rebounds to finish fifth on the program's all-time leading rebounders list.
