Men’s Golf Heads to Mid Pines for the Donald Ross Collegiate Classic

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. – Old Dominion men's golf is in Southern Pines, North Carolina this Monday and Tuesday for the third annual Donald Ross Collegiate Classic, hosted by George Mason at the original Donald Ross course at Mid Pines Inn & Golf Club.
 
The two-day tournament will feature 36 holes played on Monday beginning at 8:05 a.m. and the final 18 holes on Tuesday, scheduled for a 9 a.m. shotgun start. The course at Mid Pines is a par 72 with 6,713 total yards.
 
The 18-team field will consist of lineups from Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Elon, George Mason, Georgetown, George Washington, Loyola – Chicago, Loyola (Md.), Miami (Ohio), Ohio, Old Dominion, Saint Joseph's (Pa.), South Florida, St. Bonaventure, St. John's, Towson, William & Mary and Villanova.
 
ODU competed in the Classic last year, with the Monarchs finishing 13th at 40-over par 904. Seton Hall won the team title at nine-over 873 and Elon was the runner-up with a 13-over 877. Princeton's William Huang and North Carolina's Kenan Poole were the co-individual champions with scores of six-under 210.
 
Jakob Henriksson had the best finish for the Monarchs, tying for 28th at eight-over par 224. The Stockholm, Sweden native carded his best round on the final day, a one-under 71. He was four-over through three holes, but followed with four birdies on the front nine and two more on the back nine. He finished the tournament with a team-high 11 birdies.
 
Jakob Chicoyne was next for ODU, his 10-over 226 tying him for 39th. Gustav Fransson's 227 tied him for 44th, Rasmus Konradsson tied for 49th with a 228, Kazuki Yamauchi ended up with a 273 to tie for 85th, and Mason McCoy placed 91st with a 239.
