DORADO, Puerto Rico – The Old Dominion men's golf team took 13th place following the final round of the 2023 Dorado Beach Collegiate on Tuesday at TPC Dorado Beach. Hosted by UNC Greensboro, the three-day tournament was played on the club's Sugarcane Course.
As a team, the Monarchs turned in a pair of four-over par 292s for the first and second rounds on Sunday and Monday. ODU then recorded a final round of 297 for a 54-hole total of 881 (+17).
Cincinnati came in at 44-under par 820 to capture the team title. Duke was the runner-up with a final tally of 828 (-36) and the host Spartans were third at 833 (-31). Duke's William Love was the individual champion at 17-under 199. Following him were Cincinnati's Ryan Ford at 201 (-15) and Duke's Ian Siebers at 202 (-14).
Aleksander Bjorge was the top finisher for the Monarchs, carding an even 216 to tie for 44th. The freshman from Alesund, Norway started off with a one-under 71 for his first trip around the course, then fired a four-under 68 for round two. He rounded out his play with a 77 on Tuesday.
Jakob Chicoyne and Kaijun Ma both tied for 51st with two-over 218s. Philip Minnehan's three-round total of 223 placed him 73rd. Next for ODU was Jacob Gunther, who tied for 81st with a 228, and Jakob Henriksson tied for 87th at 234.
Next on the schedule for ODU is a trip to Southern Pines, North Carolina for the Donald Ross Collegiate Classic on March 13-14.
