NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference announced its men's basketball postseason honors on Monday afternoon and Old Dominion sophomore guard Chaunce Jenkins was named to the third team.
 
A native of Newport News, Va., Jenkins leads the team in scoring (13.8 ppg), assists (2.9 apg), three-point percentage (.377) and free throw percentage (.762). In Sun Belt games, Jenkins was tenth in the league in scoring (14.3 ppg), 11th in assists (3.1 apg), ninth in free throw percentage (.821), 11th in assist to turnover ratio (1.40). Overall, in the conference he ranked tenth in scoring, 13th in assists and free throw percentage.
 
Jenkins had five games of 20 or more points, highlighted by a 25-point outing against Virginia Tech in the Charleston Classic. In his first start in Sun Belt Conference play, had 14 points, seven rebounds and a season high seven assists in an overtime win at Georgia Southern. He had 15 points, seven rebounds and three blocked shots against Coastal Carolina. Jenkins had five games of five or more assists.
 
In the final weekend of the regular season, he averaged 19.5 points, six rebounds and 4.5 assists, while shooting 13-of-24 from the floor and 10-of-11 from the line as Old Dominion defeated the top two teams heading into the weekend Southern Miss and Marshall.
 
Old Dominion (19-11) enters the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Tournament as the sixth seed and will take on the winner of Texas State and Georgia State on Thursday night at 6 p.m. EST at the Pensacola Bay Center. The entire tournament up until the finals will be on ESPN+, while the championship game will be at 6 p.m. Monday, March 6 on ESPN2.
