DORADO, Puerto Rico – After a near two-week break since its last tournament, the Old Dominion men's golf team returns to competition this week as the Monarchs travel to Dorado, Puerto Rico to play in UNC Greensboro's Dorado Beach Collegiate.

The three-day tournament will be held at TPC Dorado Beach, with the opening round set for Sunday. The 14-team field will be playing the Club's Sugarcane Course, which features a par of 72 and a total yardage of 7,112.

In addition to ODU and the host Spartans, the field will also include Army, No. 2 Auburn, Augusta, Ball State, Boston College, Cincinnati, Drexel, Duke, Kennesaw State, Rutgers, No. 12 Virginia and West Virginia.

"We are very excited to be playing in beautiful Puerto Rico! This is the strongest field we have had in a tournament in a few years. We have a number of teams that are highly ranked in the nation, including No. 2 Auburn. Duke and Virginia are also here, and Virginia was No. 1 in the nation earlier in the year. It will be a big challenge for our team, and I hope we respond well," said head coach Murray Rudisill.

This is the second straight year that ODU will play in the Collegiate. Gustav Fransson was the top finisher for the Monarchs at the 2022 Dorado Beach Collegiate, tying for 22nd with a two-under par 214. The alum shot an even 72 for his final round, tallying five birdies on the day to finish with 14 for the tournament. The Umea, Sweden native was nine-under on the course's par-5 holes, the second-best mark at the Collegiate.
