WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – Camden Grimes hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning to tie the game at three and Alex Bouche blasted a homer in the 10th to lift Old Dominion University Baseball to a 4-3 win at William & Mary Wednesday night.
Trailing 3-1 entering the eighth, Kenny Levari led off the inning with a walk, and after a strikeout Grimes crushed his first homer of the year to tie the game at three.
Ron Cole and Robert Cook held the Tribe scoreless in the eighth and the ninth to allow Bouche an at-bat in the 10th. The freshman from Chesapeake, Virginia blasted his second home run of the year to put the Monarchs on top 4-3. Cook walked the leadoff batter in the bottom of the 10th but followed with a pair of strikeouts. Corey Adams followed with a single to put runners on the corners and walked Noah Zertuche to load the bases with two outs but Cook induced a pop up to Chris Dengler at second to seal the win.
William & Mary (2-3) took a 3-0 lead after four innings on the strength of a trio of RBI singles. Old Dominion (4-1) finally got on the board in the sixth on an RBI ground out by Grimes.
Luke Waters, Hunter Fitz-Gerald and Bouche all had two hits for the Monarchs. Cook earned the win, striking out four in two innings of work.
