Old Dominion women's basketball wraps up its final homestand of the season this week as the Monarchs host Appalachian State on Thursday and James Madison on Saturday at Chartway Arena.

Thursday's game will tip off at 6:30 p.m. and will mark Senior Day for the Monarchs. The team will recognize its seniors before tipoff. Saturday will be the Monarchs' Alumni Game, which will start at 2 p.m.

Both games will be streamed on ESPN+ with Chip Tarkenton and Kim Aston on the call. Fans can also tune into the ODU Sports Radio Network to hear Matthew Hatfield and Ed Young on Thursday and Hatfield and Charlie Woodson on Saturday. Live stats will also be available.

The Series
ODU fell to both teams earlier this season. ODU is 2-1 when playing App State. The last matchup between the two programs was on Dec. 29 in Boone, North Carolina, with App State securing an 81-55 win over the Monarchs.

The Monarchs are still ahead 52-26 in the all-time series versus JMU since their last matchup on Dec. 31, a 68-54 loss in Harrisonburg. However, the Dukes have won the past six meetings. 

About ODU
Coming off two home victories against Georgia Southern and Georgia State last week, the Monarchs (18-9, 10-4 Sun Belt) pushed their winning streak to five. ODU is now in a three-way tie for second place with Texas State and James Madison in the conference standings as the regular season comes to a close next week.

Makayla Dickens and Amari Young are tied for the team lead with 10.9 points per game. Not far behind is Kaye Clark in third (9.2 ppg) and Jordan McLaughlin in fourth (8.9 ppg). Clark's 72 steals rank 13th and her 2.67 steals per game rank 26th nationally. Young leads the Monarchs and is sixth in the conference in rebounds with 198 total, averaging 7.9 per game. Dickens remains as ODU's leader in three-pointers (53) and is second in league with 152 three-pointers attempted.

ODU is scoring 65.1 points per outing and owns a +4.5 scoring margin. The Monarchs are shooting .394 (3658-for-1672) from the field, .282 (142-for-504) from beyond the arc, and .624 (299-for-479) at the free-throw line. The team also leads the conference in winning streaks.
 
About App State
The Mountaineers (9-16, 5-9) split their home games last week having beaten Georgia State, 63-55 before losing to Georgia Southern, 84-73.  Faith Alston led the team in the loss with 21 points.

App State has three players scoring double figures:  Janay Sanders (13.5 ppg), Emily Carver (12.6 ppg) and Faith Alston (11.1 ppg). On the perimeter, Carver leads the conference with 61 made threes, a .479 three-point percentage and 3.4 threes made per game. Brooke Bigott (7.2 ppg) is next with 34 long balls. Bigott (4.7 rpg) and Alston (4.5 rpg) lead the rebounding effort. Jefferson owns the team high in steals with 37 and Alston ranks eighth in the Sun Belt with 78 assists this season.

The Mountaineers are averaging 8.6 steals per game and the team leads the league for made 3-pointers for both the season and in conference play. The team also leads the conference in three-point percentage (.345). 

About James Madison
The Dukes (20-6, 10-4) picked up two wins on their home court last week with a close game against Louisiana, 65-69 and Arkansas State, 70-57. Against Louisiana, Peyton McDaniel led the team with 18 points and Kiki Jefferson dropped 22 points against Arkansas State.

Jefferson paces the Dukes' offense with an 18.2-point average. McDaniel is the second-best scorer with 11.9 points per game and Kseniia Kozlova is third at 10.6. Kozlova leads the conference in field goal percentage (.601) and Jefferson leads the Sun Belt in defensive rebounds averaging 6.7 rpg. McDaniel has made 58 shots from behind the arc, Jefferson sits in second behind her with 31 threes and Ouderkirk has knocked down 18. Jefferson's 474 points put her 23rd in the country. Seven different players own double-digit assists, led by Caroline Germond with 96.

The Dukes average an even 70.0 ppg and have outscored opponents by an average of 9.5 points. The team is shooting .410 (639-for-1557) from the floor, .300 (171-for-570) from downtown, and .728 (370-for-508) at the charity stripe with a 14.2 per game advantage over their opponents. James Madison is also first in the Sun Belt in field goal percentage defense (.358), rebounding margin (+8.3), and defensive rebound percentage (.742).

ODU wraps up the regular season with a pair of road games at Marshall and Coastal Carolina next week. The Monarchs will play a 6 p.m. game against the Thundering Herd on Wednesday, Feb. 22. The team will then meet the Chanticleers for a 6 p.m. contest next Friday, Feb. 24.
