Men's Basketball Hosts George Mason In Wednesday 4PM Matinee

NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion men's basketball team will close out the non-conference schedule on Wednesday afternoon with a 4 p.m. tip against the George Mason Patriots at Chartway Arena.

ESPN Radio 94.1FM will have the radio broadcast with Ted Alexander and Dave Twardzik on the call starting at 3:30 p.m. with the Toyota Pregame Show.
 
LAST TIME OUT
Imo Essien hit a 3-pointer with 36 seconds left and Old Dominion held off a couple of Gardner-Webb chances as the Monarchs took a 44-43 win over the Runnin' Bulldogs on December 10. Mekhi Long paced ODU with 12 points and nine rebounds, while Tyreek Scott-Grayson had nine points and six steals.
 
George Mason rallied from a halftime deficit to defeat Tulane 62-56 in Chicago on Saturday. Victor Bailey, Jr. paced two in double figures for the Patriots with 19 points, while Josh Oduro had 12 points and six rebounds.
 
SERIES HISTORY
ODU leads the all-time series 37-22 having won three of the last four meetings. The Monarchs took a 60-50 win last season at George Mason. In that contest, the Monarchs trailed 26-25 at half and outscored the Patriots 35-24 in the second half. Long had 11 points and nine rebounds in that contest for ODU.
 
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
Jenkins leads the Monarchs in scoring at 12.8 points per game, field goal percentage (.490), shares the lead with Long in three-point percentage (.500) and in assists with Tyreek Scott-Grayson each having 30. Ben Stanley is second in scoring at 11.7 ppg and Scott-Grayson rounds out the double figure scorers averaging 11.4 points per game. Long is averaging 9.8 points and a team-high 7.5 rebounds while leading in steals with 18.
 
The Monarchs are averaging 67.6 points per game, while allowing 64.0. From the field, ODU is hitting .433 (276-of-637), .327 from 3-point range (49-of-150) and .631 from the foul line (143-of-231). Their opponents are hitting .414 from the field (247-of-597), .301 from 3-point range (77-of-256) and .668 from the line (133-of-199). ODU is outrebounding opponents by over five per game (38.7 – 33.6).
 
George Mason is topped in scoring by Oduro averaging 13.5 points per game, rebounding at 6.5 per game and in blocked shots with 12. Following him in scoring is Devon Cooper (11.8 ppg) and Victor Bailey, Jr. (11.7 ppg).  
 
 As a team, the Patriots are averaging 69.3 points per game and allowing 67.2. They're hitting .457 from the field (275-of-602), .362 from 3-point range (89-of-246) and .615 from the foul line (123-of-200). Their opponents are hitting .408 from the field (271-of-665), .273 from 3-point range (65-of-238) and .677 from the line (132-of-195).  They're outrebounding their opponents by over four per game (37.7-33.4)

Men's basketball season tickets cost $215 and include tickets for the Monarchs' exhibition on Nov. 2 and all 16 of ODU's regular season home games. Women's basketball season tickets cost $115 for adults and $250 for courtside seating and include tickets to all 15 of the Monarchs' home games. Season tickets represent a savings of more than $50 for men's games and $45 for women's games, over single-game tickets. Single-game tickets for regular season men's and women's basketball games will go on sale later in the month. Single-game ticket prices start at $18 for men's games and $11 for women's games, with special pricing for senior citizens, ODU faculty and staff, youth (12 and younger) and members of the military. ODU students can register for student tickets for free to any ODU men's and women's home game.
