NORFOLK, Va. – CollegeInsider.com released its latest Mid-Major Top 25 poll on Tuesday and Old Dominion women's basketball was ranked at No. 19 with 218 points.

The Monarchs (8-3) have won six straight and secured victories over Lincoln (Pa.), VCU and Norfolk State last week to improve to 6-0 when playing at home. ODU was No. 144 in the NCAA NET rankings through games played on Dec. 4, but the team's 3-0 week helped the team jump up to No. 110. Senior forward Amari Young also picked up Sun Belt Player of the Week honors earlier Tuesday after leading the Monarchs with 40 points (13.3 ppg), 25 rebounds (8.3 rpg) and eight steals.

ODU is not the only Sun Belt school included in the most recent poll: James Madison (7-2) is No. 17 with 257 points and Troy (4-5) received 131 points to come in at No. 21.

This is the first time ODU has landed on the Mid-Major poll since the Monarchs were ranked 11th in the 2010-11 preseason poll. The women's Mid-Major Top 25 is comprised of teams from America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, CAA, Great West, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt and West Coast Conference.

The Mid-Major Top 25 is released every Tuesday throughout the season.

Next up for the Monarchs is a trip to Tampa, Florida to play in the inaugural Sun Coast Challenge, hosted by Pasco-Hernando State College. ODU and Mississippi State will play at 1 p.m. next Monday before the Monarchs face New Mexico in a 1 p.m. tip on Tuesday.
