NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion women's soccer team learned whom they'll face in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament on Monday afternoon.

Old Dominion (9-8-3) will visit North Carolina (15-4-1) on Saturday night at 7 p.m. for an opening round contest at Dorrance Field.  The winner will face either Samford or Georgia in the second round the weekend of Nov. 18-20.

The Monarchs are coming in off a run through the Sun Belt Conference Tournament with victories over Arkansas State (1-0), South Alabama (0-0, winning 4-3 in penalty kicks) and James Madison (4-3).  Carla Morich was named the Tournament Most Outstanding Player after recording a hat trick in the championship match, including the game-winner in the 106th minute.

Joining her on the All-Tournament team included: Anna Tørsløv, Ece Turkoglu, Riley Kennett and Andrea Balcazar Algarin.  Turkoglu had the winning penalty kick in the win over South Alabama in a game that saw their run of three straight conference titles come to an end.

North Carolina earned the No. 2 seed in its quadrant after putting together a 15-4-1 overall record with an 8-2 ACC record. The Tar Heels, who are currently the No. 5 team in the NCAA's Ratings Percentage Index (RPI), posted eight wins over teams selected to the field of 64.

This marks Carolina's 41st successive NCAA Tournament appearance.  UNC is the only team to appear in every NCAA Tournament dating back to the first tournament in 1982.  The Tar Heels have won 22 of the previous 40 NCAA titles.
