GENEVA, N.Y. – The National Field Hockey Coaches Association announced the all-region teams Tuesday afternoon, as ODU field hockey had four players named to the teams. Cam MacGillivray and Delphine Le Jeune were both named first team while Marlon de Bruijne and Frederique Zandbergen were named second team.

"I'm extremely proud that our players are getting recognized and it's a reflection of the work we have done as a team. But many have contributed to this year's success. Obviously, these awards are significantly based on statistics, but the feeling for our group is that there are many players who are just as impactful on our team in different ways. From Nicole as a steady captain, Rina as a relentless worker, to Evelyn, Shannon, Sanci diving around as a freshman, Freddy flying up the field and the list goes on through the entire squad of those who have played key roles at different points through the season. It really felt like a team performance this year," said head coach Andrew Griffiths.

Delphine Le Jeune started all 18 games for the Monarchs accumulating 12 goals, three assists and 27 points. She was an all-BIG EAST First Team Selection.

Cam MacGillivray helped Old Dominion create a strong defense, starting all 18 games in goal. She was tied for second in the nation in goalie win-loss percentage posting a 15-3 record. She also ranked fourth in goals against average in the nation. Although she ranked 34th in the country in saves per game she ranked first in save percentage. MacGillivray was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year and was a first team All-BIG EAST selection while helping the Monarchs to a regular season BIG EAST Championship.

"Cam has made exceptional strides this year in goal, which you could see by her presence in goal. This is reflected in her stats and the fact that she is #1 in the nation in save percentage and, notably, Cam has helped the team to win every shootout we have had since she has been here at ODU and played in goal," said Griffiths.

Marlon de Bruijne was named second team all-region. The BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year scored 14 goals along with adding six assists for a team leading 34 points. She was named first team All-BIG EAST and hit the game winning penalty stroke against Liberty to give ODU their first regular season BIG EAST Championship since 2013.

Frederique Zandbergen was the final Monarch named to the team. She was named second team All-BIG EAST. Zandbergen started all 18 games for the Monarchs in the midfield where she scored four goals, had a team high 15 assists for 23 points. Zandbergen was fourth in the nation is assists per game.

"We are already excited to get going again for 2023 and build it up and go further next year," said Griffiths.

Old Dominion went 15-3 and won the BIG EAST regular season championship for the first time since 2013. The 15 wins gave head coach Andrew Griffiths his most wins in a season while leading the Monarchs.
