CINCINNATI – The Old Dominion women's basketball team is in Cincinnati, Ohio this Saturday for a road game at Xavier. Tipoff at the Cintas Center is scheduled for 1 p.m. EST.

ODU and Xavier are meeting for the first time on Saturday.
 
About ODU
The Monarchs (2-1) won their home opener against William & Mary 59-43 on Tuesday. With the score tied at 25-25 early in the third quarter, ODU scored eight unanswered and never surrendered the lead from there. The Monarch defense turned 20 W&M turnovers into 20 points while combining for 12 steals and four blocks. ODU also scored 32 points in the paint, 20 off the bench and 13 on fast break.
 
Amari Young scored a team-high 12 points to go along with seven boards, three assists and one steal. Jordan McLaughlin was next with 11 points, six rebounds, six assists, one block and three steals. Brianna Jackson also reached double figures with 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds. She added two helpers, a block and a steal to her totals.
 
Makayla Dickens is averaging 13.0 points through two games played, McLaughlin is second with 12.3 points per contest, and Kaye Clark is third at 11.0 points per game. Clark's 5.33 steals per game rank her fourth in the country and her 16 steals are currently fifth. Dickens and Clark have both made a team-high four three-pointers, while McLaughlin has made 14-of-17 (.824) shots at the charity stripe. Jackson is the top rebounds at 7.3 rebounds per game, Young follows her with 6.0 per game, and Jada Duckett is third with 5.7 per game.
  
About Xavier
The Musketeers (3-0) opened the season with an 87-68 win at Miami (Ohio) on Nov. 7, then beat Detroit Mercy 71-57 in their home opener on Nov. 10. Xavier most recently earned a 78-52 home win over Saint Francis (Pa.) last Sunday.
 
The Red Flash held a 21-12 lead with 8:29 to play in the second quarter, but Xavier outscored SFU 25-8 to take a 37-29 lead at the break. The Musketeers never looked back from there and went up by as many as 29 points late in the third quarter. Mackayla Scarlett led the offense with 15 points as she shot 4-for-9 (.444) from distance and 3-for-4 (.750) at the free-throw line. Courtney Prenger turned in a 10-point, 11-rebound double, Fernanda Ovalle netted 11 points, and Taylor Smith and Aanaya Harris also had 10-point performances.
 
Xavier led SFU in points off turnovers (29-5), points in the paint (42-24), second-chance points (16-7), fast-break points (22-1) and points off the bench (27-20).
 
Scarlett is the team's leading scorer with 17.7 points per game and is also the top three-point shooter with nine made on 17 attempts. Kaleigh Addie is next with an 11.3 scoring average and Smith is third at 10.0 points per game. Prenger averages 6.3 rebounds per game and Shelby Calhoun follows with 5.0 boards per outing. Prenger and Megan Harkey both own five blocks while Scarlett and Smith have six steals each.
 
The Musketeers are currently ranked fifth nationally in three-point percentage (.465), 23rd in blocks per game (6.0) and 28th in turnover margin (9.33). Xavier is also outscoring its opponents by an average of 19.7 points. The Musketeers were picked to finish 11th in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll after finishing 9-21 overall and 4-16 in conference play last season.
 
Xavier's 2022-23 squad features nine returners and five newcomers. Back for the Musketeers are guards Calhoun, Smith, Shaila Beeler, Kaysia Woods, and Scarlett; guard/forward Aanaya Harris; forward Prenger; forward/center Harkey; and center Mikayla Hayes. Joining the team this year are guards June Ruiz Azkue, Fernanda Ovalle and Addie and forwards Nila Blackford (Kent State) and Bella Ward.

Men's basketball season tickets cost $215 and include tickets for the Monarchs' exhibition on Nov. 2 and all 16 of ODU's regular season home games. Women's basketball season tickets cost $115 for adults and $250 for courtside seating and include tickets to all 15 of the Monarchs' home games. Season tickets represent a savings of more than $50 for men's games and $45 for women's games, over single-game tickets. Single-game tickets for regular season men's and women's basketball games will go on sale later in the month. Single-game ticket prices start at $18 for men's games and $11 for women's games, with special pricing for senior citizens, ODU faculty and staff, youth (12 and younger) and members of the military. ODU students can register for student tickets for free to any ODU men's and women's home game.
