LAFAYETTE, La. – Old Dominion volleyball could not solve Louisiana on Friday night as the Monarchs fell 3-0 in a Sun Belt Conference match at Earl K. Long Gym.

ODU's attack was led by Myah Conway's 14 kills. The sophomore from Orwigsburg, Pennsylvania added one assist, one block and six digs to her match totals. Hailey Duncan, Bailey Burgess and Olivia De Jesus scored three kills each and Ashlynn Belcher set a new season high with 22 assists. Duncan, Burgess and Belcher also recorded one block each. Jamie Bissmeyer and Anna Burkhardt finished with seven digs each while Belcher matched Conway with six digs.
A 3-0 run in the first set put the Monarchs (8-13, 3-5 Sun Belt) ahead 5-3, but the Ragin' Cajuns (11-8, 5-5 Sun Belt) earned the next five points and never surrendered the lead from there. Another 5-0 run by the hosts extended their lead to 14-7. Conway scored a ball from Burkhardt to get ODU to within 23-18, but ULL took two of the next three points to claim the set.
ODU fell behind 9-2 early in the second set and couldn't recover as the Ragin' Cajuns went up two sets to none with a 25-10 decision. The home team kept its foot on the gas in the third set as the Monarchs trailed 15-6 at the media timeout. ODU was unable to string together points and the match came to its end with a 25-13 final.

The Monarchs are back in Norfolk, Virginia next week when they host Appalachian State on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 28-29.
