DALLAS – Old Dominion Football redshirt junior running back Blake Watson was named the Doak Walker National Running Back of the Week, the PwC SMU Athletic Forum announced on Tuesday.
Watson rushed for a school record 259 yards on 19 carries in Old Dominion's 49-21 win at Coastal Carolina last Saturday. He scored on touchdown runs of 25, 58 and 67 yards, as the 58 and 67-yarders were the longest runs of his career.
His 13.6-yard per carry average also broke a school record. Watson entered the game with 255 yards and now has 514 yards on the season and is second in the Sun Belt Conference and 16th in the country with 102.2 yards per game.
Watson and the Monarchs host Georgia Southern on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 3:30 p.m.
