NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion volleyball team will play its first home matches of the season this week when the team hosts the Quest for the Crown tournament on Thursday, Sept. 8 through Saturday, Sept. 10 at the ODU Volleyball Center.
ODU starts the tournament on Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. against Navy. The team then takes on Notre Dame at 7 p.m. on Friday before wrapping up with a 3 p.m. match versus East Carolina on Saturday. Live stats will be available for all three matches and all three of ODU's matches will be streamed on ESPN+.

For the cost of $50, you get 25 tickets that can be used for any regular season home game at the ODU Volleyball Center, ODU Soccer Complex or Bud Metheny Baseball Stadium. About ODU
The Monarchs (2-4) won two of three matches at the Virginia Tech Invitational last weekend. ODU opened the tournament with a pair of 3-1 victories against Marist and Coppin State on Friday, then fell in straight sets to the Hokies on Saturday. Bailey Burgess and Teresa Atilano represented the Monarchs on the All-Tournament Team.
Myah Conway leads ODU with 40 kills (2.11 per set), Hailey Duncan is next with 33 (1.65 per set) and Burgess is right behind her with 31 (1.63 per set). Atilano has tallied 117 assists (6.16 per set) and is four away from reaching 1,600 for her career. The San Diego, California native is also the team leader in service aces with 10, though Jamie Bissmeyer is on her heels with nine. Defensively, Bissmeyer and Anna Burkhardt have recorded 59 and 49 digs, respectively. Burgess ranks third in the Sun Belt with a team-best 24 total blocks and is the league leader with 1.26 blocks per set.
About Navy
The Midshipmen (2-4) hosted the Kristen Dickmann Invitational last week in Annapolis, Maryland. After falling to VCU 3-1 on Thursday and suffering a four-set loss to Michigan State on Friday, Navy got back in the win column with a 3-1 victory against UAlbany on Saturday. Ashley Warren was the team's sole representative on the All-Tournament Team.
Twin sisters Jamie and Jordan Llewellyn pace the team's attack with 76 and 72 kills, respectively. Averi Miller is the primary setter with 175 assists and Doris Nelson has served eight aces. Hannah Hoover's 50 digs leads Navy's back row and Maggie Bodman ranks second in the Patriot League in total blocks (27) and is third in blocks per set (1.17).
Navy garnered 85 votes and was picked to finish fourth in the Patriot League's Preseason Poll. Bodman was named to the Preseason All-League Team after earning Second Team All-Conference honors for the 2020-21 season and again in 2021.
About Notre Dame
The Fighting Irish (1-4) were in Long Beach, California last Friday and Saturday for the Long Beach State Tournament. Notre Dame fell 3-1 to Boise State in its first match of the weekend, then suffered a straight-set loss to the tourney hosts on Saturday.
Avery Ross has scored 59 kills and Lucy Trump is next with 57 to lead the team offensively. Phyona Schrader is up to 123 assists this season, Hattie Monson has served six aces, and Maisie Alexander and Trump have both served five. On the other side of the net, Monson is two digs shy of reaching 100 for the season. Lauren Tarnoff leads the blocking effort with 14 and Charity McDowell is also in double figures with 10.
Notre Dame was selected ninth with 87 points in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Preseason Coaches' Poll.
About East Carolina
The Pirates (2-4) dropped all three of their matches last week at the Duke Invitational. ECU started off their trip to Durham, North Carolina with a 3-1 loss to Northeastern on Friday. The team then played two matches on Saturday, falling 3-2 to East Tennessee State before coming up short 3-0 to Duke.
Angeles Alderete is the primary attacker for the Pirates with 80 kills. Julianna Askew is at 11 assists and Payton Evenstad is next with 84. Angeles has served a team-high nine aces, Kellyn Trowse owns eight and Evenstad has seven. Kenzie Beckham and Alderete have combined for 117 digs, Shaylynn Hall is the top blocker with 23, and Alyssa Finister has 15 blocks.
ECU was picked to finish ninth in the American Athletic Conference (AAC) Preseason Coaches' Poll with 32 votes.

The Monarchs have their first midweek tilt of the season next Tuesday as the team heads to Norfolk State to play the Spartans. First serve from Gill Gymnasium is set for 6 p.m.
