NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion men's tennis team will kick off its fall 2022 season this weekend in the Farnsworth Invitational hosted by Princeton University.
Old Dominion will face teams from LSU, Michigan State, Penn, Tulsa and host Princeton over the three-day event in mock dual matches.
"We are very excited to finally compete. The guys have put in a lot of work in the past three weeks and are looking forward to seeing how we square up this weekend," said ODU Head Coach Dominik Mueller. "LSU, Tulsa and Princeton all made the NCAA Tournament last year so we will be tested on the highest of levels."
The Monarchs return five players this fall from last year's squad highlighted by NCAA qualifier Francois Le Tallec. He was the highest ranked player in Conference USA last season and earned the automatic bid to the NCAA Championships. Also returning this fall would be Nicola Vidal who ended last year nationally-ranked in doubles.
ODU will have some new faces playing their first competition for the Monarchs this weekend. Jakob Cadonau is a transfer from Ole Miss and Brandon Perez joined the team from Nebraska for some experience, while Cosme Rolland de Ravnel and Yanis Moundir are playing their first collegiate matches.
Old Dominion will next head to the ITA All-Americans in Tulsa, Okla., October 1-7.
