NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion Lacrosse head coach Theresa Walton announced the hiring of Meg Clements and Hailey Dobbins as assistant coaches, Allie Murray will also be joining the staff as a volunteer assistant on Thursday.
Clements was a four-year lacrosse player at Rutgers where she was named second team All BIG EAST as well as being named to the BIG EAST All-Tournament team in 2014. Clements has seven years of coaching high school club lacrosse and six years of coaching division III women's lacrosse. "Meg Clements' loyalty and work ethic has made an immediate impact on the new era of ODU Lacrosse. Clements' vocal presence and knowledge on the field offensively will be key attributes that she brings to the table every day," said Walton. "Clements' time at Stevens Institute of Technology under Head Coach, Karen Shaddock has given Clements proven success both on a championship scale and the recruiting trail that will no doubt help us reach our maximum potential." Clements was the associate head coach at Stevens Institute of Technology where she helped guide the team to their first conference championship since 2011 as well as being ranked in the top 20 for division III lacrosse.
Dobbins had a successful playing career at the division II and III level After her playing career she joined American where she was an assistant coach and the defensive coordinator. She was an NCAA DII national champion in her senior season at Lindenwood and earned her second career all-American honor. She was also named two-time Conference Defensive Player of the Year. "Hailey Dobbins' passion for lacrosse and knowledge of the game has made a splash here at ODU both on the field and in our recruiting efforts. Dobbins' energy level and defensive mindset will elevate every facet of our training day in and day out," said Walton. "Dobbins' time with American University under Head Coach, Lindsay Teeters has allowed her coaching career to start strong with elite level Division I lacrosse which will help us raise our bar of competitive standards."
Murray joins the Monarchs after a playing career at Notre Dame and Syracuse. In her final year at Syracuse, she led the team in ground balls (59) and made 127 saves in goal. She was the volunteer assistant at Syracuse in 2017. "Allie Murray brings a wealth of experience and understanding in the crease that our goalie unit will thrive from. Murray's dedication to the game is evident in her approach and we are so thankful she has joined our squad to be our constant communicator with our leaders in the net," said Walton.
"Having known both Meg Clements and Hailey Dobbins for several years now, I feel so grateful and honored to work beside them for our Monarchs Lacrosse Family. These are two people that I connect with, trust, and love. Adding Allie Murray to this coaching staff gives us the depth we need on the sidelines to cover all viewpoints from each position," said Walton. "With this full strength of a coaching staff, we are confident that together we can accomplish the expectations and goals of our program in the American Athletic Conference and on a national level."
