Game Three Preview: Old Dominion at Virginia

NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion University Football takes the road for the second-straight week as they travel to Virginia to take on the Cavaliers for a 2 p.m. contest. The game will be broadcast on the ACC Network and on the ODU Sports Radio Network.

Game Notes Old Dominion      Virginia

 

• Old Dominion takes on Virginia in Charlottesville for the second time in program history. ODU lost to UVA 28-17 in 2019.

• The Monarchs are coming off their first setback of the season after a 39-21 loss at East Carolina last Saturday.

• Virginia is coming off a 24-3 loss at Illinois.

• Old Dominion quarterback Hayden Wolff completed 18-of-29 passes for 275 yards, three touchdowns and an interception.

All three of Wolff's touchdown passes went to Ali Jennings, who caught eight passes for 200 yards. The yardage was the second most in his career. The 100-yard game was the fifth of his career and second-straight to open the 2022 season. 

Linebacker Jason Henderson had his second-straight double-digit tackle game to open the season, notching 14 tackles to go along with a tackle for loss and a blocked extra point.

Two games in, two double-digit tackle games for sophomore linebacker Jason Henderson. He totaled 18 in the season-opener against Virginia Tech and 14 last week at ECU. Henderson's 18 tackles in the opener against Virginia Tech is the most in a game this season by an FBS player.

Jennings Goes for 100 (Again)
Wide receiver Ali Jennings III went over 100 yards receiving for the fifth time in his career and second-straight game to open the season. He caught eight passes for 200 yards and three scores last week at ECU. Jennings leads the country with 322 receiving yards.

Blocks R'Us
For the second time in two seasons, ODU blocked two kicks in a game after blocking a pair of extra points last week at ECU. Jason Henderson and Devin Brandt-Epps each blocked a PAT. It was the second career blocked kick for Henderson and the first for Brandt-Epps.

ODU now has eight blocked kicks (punts and kicks) over the last two seasons. Of the eight blocks, Henderson became the first player last week to have multiple blocks.
