Sailing Places Third at Riley Cup

NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion University Sailing competed in a trio of events over the weekend and notched a finish of third in the Riley Cup.
 
The Monarch team at the Riley Cup featuring A Division sailors Parker Purrington and Isabelle Kanach, and B Division of Rider Odom and Alivia Markham placed third. The Division B team of Tyler Brown and Lindsey Kaufmann placed fourth with a win and seven top-fives.
 
The Big Blue Team finished right behind them as the A Division team of Odom and Markham placed sixth with a win and seven top-five places as well. The B Division squad of Diogo Ssilva, Asianna Acosta and Jarred Hosking placed sixth with a win and seven top-five spots.
 
At the Navy Women's Race, Old Dominion came in sixth place.
 
The A Division team of Elizabeth Gildea and Katherine Barton placed eighth overall, notching a race best fifth place finish.
 
The B Division team of Allison Jeanne Volk and Emma Friedauer finished in 11th with a high finish of sixth.
 
At the Laser South singlehanded event, ODU had four competitors led by a 10th place finish by Finn Ciszewski. Parker Younger and Ian Slayter were not far behind in 17th and 18th.
 
The Monarchs are back in action next weekend at a pair of events in Annapolis, Maryland. They will compete in the Faye Bennet Trophy and the Chesapeake Invitational.
