ODU loses to Vanderbilt 20-9

Norfolk, Va.- Old Dominion University lacrosse suffered a 20-9 loss to Vanderbilt on Senior Day at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex. 
 
Vanderbilt (9-6, 2-2 AAC) got on the board first with a goal from Maddie Souza. Old Dominion (5-11, 0-3 AAC) answered back a minute later as Haley O'Connor was the first Monarch to get on the board. Vanderbilt scored the next nine goals to take a 10-1 lead before senior Tess Meurling scored off an assist from Claire Porter.
 
Callie Sundin scored for the Commodores to make the score 11-2 but Lilly Siskind scored two-straight to bring ODU to within seven at 12-4. Vanderbilt added goals from Kemper Robinson and Kayla Rieu to make the score 14-4 at halftime.
 
Vanderbilt increased its lead in the second half with goals from Maddie Souza and Nicole Halloran, while ODU added goals from Claire Porter and Olivia Tanneberger. Jessica Pisani scored a pair in the final quarter to secure her first multi-goal game and make the final score 20-9.
 
Siskind finished the day with three points on two goals and one assist. Caroline Shaefer recorded five draw controls, moving her into second place in Old Dominion's single-season record book with 66. She is four draw controls away from tying Connor Carson for first. 
 
Jenna Peccia made 16 saves for the Monarchs in 33:23, while Brianna Blatter was in net 26:37 and recorded three saves. 
 
ODU concludes the season next Saturday at Temple.
