NORFOLK, Va. – The 31st-ranked Old Dominion women's tennis team returned to the home courts on Saturday and scored a 6-1 win over East Carolina at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
 
In doubles, the Monarchs won the team point with victories at the last two spots. Tatsiana Sasnouskaya and Ralitsa Alexandrova scored a 6-2 win at number three, while Alexandra Viktorovich and Sofia Johnson clinched the point with a 6-4 win at number two. The top spot was at match point with Alesya Yakubovich and Shahar Biran leading 5-2 when the team point was earned.
 
Sasnouskaya got the Monarchs going in singles with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Isabella Rivera Ortiz at number one, while Biran put ODU (13-6) up 3-0 with a 6-0, 6-2 win at number five over Ines Bachir.
 
Alexandrova won the clinching match with a 6-3, 6-1 victory at number six over Sofia Cerezo Holgado to push the ODU advantage to 4-0. Marina Alcaide followed to give ODU a 5-0 lead with a 6-2, 6-3 win at number three over Martina Muzzolon.
 
After an ECU win, Yakubovich finished the day with a 6-3, 4-6 1-0 (10-5) win at number four over Alisha Hussain for the 6-1 win.
 
ODU is back in action on April 8 at home hosting VCU at 1 p.m., before facing Navy again on April 10 at 11 a.m. The Monarchs defeated Navy 5-2 in Annapolis, Md. on March 24.
