NORFOLK, Va. – In their final regular season home match of 2022, the Old Dominion men's tennis team celebrated its seniors on Senior Day with a 4-2 win over William & Mary.

Pre-match ceremonies recognized Oliver Nolan and Yevhen Sirous for their contributions to the ODU program, and the Monarchs responded in doubles with two wins at the two and three spots to take the team point.

"What a great way to send our seniors out on Senior Day. We played a very clean dual match for nearly the first two hours, but then let W&M back into the match," said ODU Head Coach Dominik Mueller. "Credit goes to Codie and Oliver Nolan for staying composed at the end. Codie stepped up big time at the end clinching the match with some big shots. A very impressive performance for a freshman."

Nolan and Codie van Schalkwyk took the first win at number two with a 6-0 decision, while Francois Le Tallec and Oliver Tobisch won 6-2 at number three to lock up the first point.

In singles, the Tribe evened the match with a win at number three before ODU got a 6-4, 6-4 win by Le Tallec at number one and a three-set win by Tobisch at number six 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 for a 3-1 Monarch advantage.

William & Mary pulled to 3-2 after a win at number two, but the match was clinched with van Schalkwyk scoring a 6-4, 6-7, 6-3 win at number four.

"I want to thank Yevhen and Ollie one more time. They gave it all for ODU and made us better this year. They are unbelievable human beings and will achieve great things in life. I am proud that I could be a small part of their path," Mueller added.

ODU now heads into the Conference USA Tournament starting on Friday at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
