RICHMOND, Va. – In their final regular season road contest, the Old Dominion men's tennis team got the doubles point before dropping a 4-1 decision at VCU on Thursday afternoon.

The Monarchs scored wins at the two and three spots of the lineup to take the team point. Francois Le Tallec and Oliver Tobisch got the first win at number three with a 6-3 decision over Joaquim Almeida and Matisse Bobichon. ODU took the team point with a 6-2 win at number two by Oliver Nolan and Codie van Schalkwyk over Rayane Stable and Inigo Torre Martin.

Singles saw the Rams storm back with wins in spots three through six to take the match. Old Dominion was ahead in the third sets, and up a break, in both the number one and two positions when the match was clinched.

ODU (12-8) closes out the regular season on Saturday at 1 p.m. hosting William & Mary on Senior Day.

ODU HEAD COACH DOMINIK MUELLER ON VCU MATCH
Losing sucks, but today we left it all out there and played very well. VCU is ranked 29th for a reason and we forced them to play their best tennis to beat us which is all I can ask for from my guys. It was a 4-3 dual match with Francois (LeTallec) and Younes (Lalami) being up a break in their third sets. If we get one of those 7-5 or 7-6 sets, we are most likely facing a last match for the win and I wish we could've gotten to that situation and battled it out.
