SUFFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion men's golf team was edged by VCU 5-3 on Monday in a dual match that was close throughout. Four of the eight individual matches were decided by a single stroke.
Gustav Fransson posted the score of the day in the top-seeded match, carding a 67 to best Kristian Donaldson's mark of 70.
Rasmus Konradsson shot 72 on the Riverfront Golf Course but lost to Mikkel Antonsen, who carded a 71. Likewise, Jakob Henriksson (75) lost his match with Charlie Kennedy (74) by one shot.
Jakob Chicoyne (74) edged Joe Retford (75), and Kazuki Yamauchi picked up ODU's final point by shooting 73 to get the better of Cliff Foster (75).
Filip Wetterqvist lost his match with Adrian Vagberg by four strokes, 75-71. Mason McCoy (74) fell by a single shot to Sachin Kumar (73), and John Wang (80) lost to Cam Barackman (71).
The Monarchs now turn their attention to the Conference USA Championship at Texarkana Country Club in Texarkana, Arkansas April 25-27.
