Men's Tennis Rebounds To Top UAB 6-1

NORFOLK, Va. – The 60th-ranked Old Dominion men's tennis team moved to 2-0 in Conference USA action on Sunday with a 6-1 win over UAB at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
 
ODU (10-5, 2-0) took the doubles point winning the top two matches by identical 6-3 counts. Luca Maldoner and Yevhen Sirous won at number one, while Younes Lalami and Oliver Nolan won at number two.
 
In singles, Lalami got the Monarchs a 2-0 lead with a 6-2, 6-2 win at number two over Thanos Spyropoulous.  That advantage went to 3-0 after Codie van Schalkwyk scored a 6-2, 6-0 win over Roman Postolka at number four.
 
The Blazers got on the board with a win at number three, but the Monarchs rebounded with wins by Oliver Nolan at number five (6-2, 6-4) and Oliver Tobisch (6-2, 7-5) at number six. Maldoner finished the match with a three-set win over Michal Lusovsky 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 at the top spot.
 
Old Dominion is now off until Friday when they host Florida Atlantic in C-USA action at 1 p.m.

A solid bounce back win from yesterday for the guys. I think we missed a couple opportunities to work on some patterns in pressure situations, but overall a solid conference win.
