LAKE WORTH, Fla. – The Old Dominion men's golf team carded a 2-over-par score of 290 on Tuesday to finish the Southern Invitational in fourth place – the Monarchs' highest finish of the season. Gustav Fransson made a late move into the top-10 with a 69 on Tuesday.
ODU finished just two shots behind third-place James Madison and was seven shots clear of Loyola (Md.). The Monarchs finished with a three-round score of 872 (+8).
Fransson went 3-under on the back nine Tuesday to creep into red figures and finish 10th. With his 69 in the final round, the senior from Umea, Sweden posted a 54-hole total of 215 (-1).
Rasmus Konradsson fired a 2-over 74 on Tuesday to finish tied for 11th at 1-over 217. Jakob Henriksson finished one shot behind Konradsson at 218 and tied for 13th.
Jakob Chicoyne went under par for the second time this season with a 71 in the final round. He finished tied for 27th at 222 (+6). Kazuki Yamauchi rounded out the Monarchs' five, tying for 51st.
ODU was the second-best team on The Fall Club's par-5 holes, shooting a combined 20-over across three rounds. The Monarchs also ranked second with 151 total pars.
No. 37-ranked Ohio State ran away with the team competition with a total of 834 (-13). Florida Atlantic was the only other team to finish under par, placing second at 852 (-4).
The Buckeye's Maxwell Moldovan carded his third straight round in the 60s on Tuesday to take home individual medalist honors at 15-under 201. FAU's Max Sturdza claimed second place at 9-under 207, edging OSU's Adam Wallin by a shot.
The Monarchs return to action with the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate, hosted by William & Mary March 28-29.
