JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. – The Old Dominion women's golf team played deep into the evening on Monday, nearly completing the second round of the Briar's Creek Invitational before play was suspended due to darkness. The Monarchs currently sit in 16th place with several holes left to play in the second round.
 
"Today's results certainly do not reflect the work we have put in over the last three weeks," head coach Mallory Kane said. "We felt confident our preparations had us ready to compete. We need to play better tomorrow and execute like we know we can."
 
Jana Melichova is tied for 12th and is 1-over par. She carded 17 pars and one bogey in Monday morning's first round and is currently even-par through 15 holes in her second round.
 
Leah Onosato is 6-over and in a tie for 48th. She shot a 3-over 75 in the first round and is 3-over through 14 holes in the second. Pilar Muguruza matched Onosato's opening-round 75 and is 7-over with one hole remaining in her second round.
 
Federica Torre opened with a 77 and is 6-over with three to play in the second round. Sarah Busey rounded out the ODU scoring five with a 79 in the morning.
 
Competing as an individual, Elsie Verhoeven shot a 74 in the first round and is 6-over after 16 holes in her second round.
 
No. 47-ranked Campbell leads the team competition at 7-under-par. Eleventh-ranked Michigan is the only other team under par and is 1-under.
 
Boston College's Nathalie Irlbacher and Michigan's Ashley Lau are tied for first at 4-under. Campbell's Emily Hawkins is third at 3-under.
 
The remainder of the second round will conclude early Tuesday morning with the final round to follow immediately after.
