DORADO, P.R. – Sophomore Jakob Henriksson of the Old Dominion men's golf team made a significant move on Monday, shooting a 3-under-par score of 69 to match his season best and move up 34 spots on the leaderboard after the second round of the Dorado Beach Collegiate. As a team, the Monarchs sit in 13th place with one round left to play.
Monday's second round started inauspiciously for Henriksson, who carded bogeys on three of his first five holes. Still at 3-over with 10 holes to play, he got his first birdie of the day on the third before adding three more on the sixth, ninth and 10th holes. Following a par on the 11th, the sophomore from Stockholm, Sweden ended his day with an exclamation point by way of an eagle on the 542-yard par-5 12th. Henriksson entered the day tied for 73rd following a 76 in the opening round. He is now tied for 39th with a two-day total of 145 (+1).
Gustav Fransson logged four birdies on his way to an even-par 72 and is tied for 21st at 2-under 142. Rasmus Konradsson shot a 75 on Monday and is tied for 55th.
Mason McCoy fired a second consecutive 75 and is tied for 68th. Kazuki Yamauchi rounded out the ODU contingent with an 80 and is tied for 72nd.
Ball State maintained its control over first place on the team leaderboard with a 5-under 283 on Monday and is one stroke ahead of UNCG and five shots in front of Wofford.
No. 28-ranked Nick Lyerly UNCG jumped into first place on the individual leaderboard with a 68 and is 10-under through two rounds. Angelo Giantsopoulos and Drue Nicholas of Drexel are tied for second at 9-under.
Competition at the par-72, 7,112-yard TPC Dorado Sugarcane Course concludes tomorrow with a 7 a.m. ET shotgun start.
