NORFOLK, Va. – The 45th-ranked Old Dominion men's tennis team finished a 2-0 home weekend with a 4-3 victory over Virginia Tech on Sunday inside the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
In doubles, the Monarchs took victories at the number two and three spots for the team point. Younes Lalami and Oliver Nolan won at number two 6-2, while Francois Le Tallec and Codie van Schalkwyk also won 6-2 at number three.
Singles saw the team trade off victories as after the Hokies won at number one, Oliver Nolan put ODU back up 2-1 with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Alex Ix at number six. Virginia Tech won at number four, but Luca Maldoner pushed ODU back up 3-2 with a 6-4, 6-3 win at number two over Alvaro Ariza.
Lalami got the clinching win for ODU with a 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 win over Michael Shepheard at number three.
The Monarchs are now off until March 10 when they play host to Kennesaw State at 1 p.m.
